Science Labs and the Need to Offer More to Young People

It seems that recently the pressure on schools has become greater than levels ever seen before; the demands of Government to not only improve standards in science, English and mathematics whilst at the same time reducing budgets has left many feeling pushed in their offerings to pupils and students.

No school would feel comfortable in reducing their offering to children; departments such as art, drama and music give young people an extremely valuable outlet for creativity, but the need to achieve the best results means that schools need to expand their facilities for traditionally academic subjects. No school wants to restrict its art programs, but when you need more science labs, what do you do?

Given the choice, most schools would expand their facilities and keep both sets of programs; this would appear to give another dilemma - there comes a lot of expense and extended disruption to the school while extension work is carried out. There is, of course, another option!

Education Spaces rooms are the perfect solution for a school looking for more space and expanding their offering to their young people. Given the option of converting an art studio into a science lab and retrofitting gas points for Bunsen burners, electrical points and finding space for safe chemical storage, air filtering equipment and health and safety stations, it may be easier, faster and more economical to build a new dedicated science lab from scratch.

The benefits of Education Spaces rooms are almost endless; as they're designed around the space you have available, they always fit perfectly into school grounds and make the most of what you have. Their construction from SIPs means they're well insulated, making them thermally and economically efficient and in turn, it greatly reduces the build time when compared to other building methods. Education Spaces rooms can either be independent and self-contained, or linked to other rooms and corridors in the school and works can be scheduled to take place during school holidays, reducing the amount of disruption in the running of the school.

All works and safety certificates are provided by experienced and competent tradespeople, and all required amenities can be provided, including secure storage for chemicals and lab equipment, something that should be of concern to all schools. Power supplies in older buildings weren't designed for modern usage, and similarly Wi-Fi is an exclusively modern concern that can be built into the room's capabilities.

Schools not only have a duty to provide the best they can for students, but also maintain the widest offering to young people. Despite rising pressures, Education Spaces could be the answer to giving the students exactly what they need to excel in a time efficient and cost effective manner.
