The First Solution for First Aid

For readers of a certain age, the words 'School Nurse' still brings a slight sense of dread; creating memories of a cold room with nothing but a fold out table, some gauze and large pots of antiseptic. Today, however, schools take their health and safety responsibilities much more seriously; everything from visiting medical staff to providing emergency care should be to the best standard possible.

While it was previously acceptable for a classroom that had a free period to be used as a makeshift healthcare unit, schools must now accept that it's much more sensible to have a dedicated space with all of the required equipment and facilities. The problem for many schools is that budget and high real-estate prices make such desires much less appealing.

Education Spaces First Aid and Medical Rooms could be exactly the solution for every school; because our building designs are bespoke, they can effectively use tight areas which are either inaccessible or unsuitable for other applications.

Education Spaces rooms can provide everything that medical staff need for treatment, from hygienic, non-slip and easy clean flooring to hygiene basins and other necessary equipment. Privacy blinds can also be provided, along with all of the furniture you could need, such as desks, chairs and treatment trolleys.

Security is also a key concern for many schools when it comes to first aid and treatment rooms, but Education Spaces can build high security 5-point locking doors and key operated windows, meaning that medical equipment and medication is kept safe. This can be doubled up with lockable and secure internal storage so that everything from drugs to confidential medical files don't risk being lost or stolen.

All Education Spaces buildings are constructed from the highest quality materials and to the highest standard. Using SIPs building panels means that the room will be thermally efficient and extra insulation for sound or acoustic enhancement can be added at any point during the design phase. The school sick bay of yesteryear is often remembered as being a cold space, but modern design means that Education Spaces can be fully climate controlled, including the humidity and even air freshness allowing the space to be used all year round.

Your new first aid facility can be a standalone structure or connected to the existing school body, with all power and amenities connected. Where possible, it's advised to locate your new building near existing toilet and washroom facilities, but if space allows, then a dedicated washroom can be built in as part of the first aid capabilities.

Although many schools don't imagine that they have either the budget or space for a dedicated medical room, they still desire to provide the best for their students and young people. Thanks to Education Spaces, providing the best in terms of the health and wellbeing of their young people could be one step closer.
