The New School Year and New Requirements!

It's the day that divides opinion in schools more than any other; the first day back! This September, over 8million pupils returned to school, some were dreading it, whereas others cannot wait to get going! After the long summer holidays, we're also fairly sure that many of the teachers feel exactly the same, as before the start of each year, long hours go into planning lessons, teaching aims and the facilities available.

There are times, however, when no matter how careful the planning is, you find that your school resources don't quite stretch far enough, and you need more space. Whether it's an additional teaching room, a multi-purpose space, a new library or even a sports room with storage for when PE takes place indoors, there are many times when extra facilities are needed.

Conventional wisdom at this point would state that the school extends. The problem is that building extensions onto existing school buildings is, first and foremost, extremely messy. It involves taking classrooms, and in some cases, entire wings of the school out of commission. It's disruptive to the functioning of the school and building sites are inherently dangerous. But what if you can't wait until next year for your much-needed new facilities?

This is where the great joy of Education Spaces lies. All Education Spaces rooms are specifically designed to the requirements of each individual school, so you not only get the functionality you need, but it works and fits into the space available. Education Spaces rooms are entirely self-contained, meaning that they don't need to be attached to other school buildings, removing the need for walls of the existing classrooms to be knocked down. This saves on a many fronts; less disruption, less mess, less danger and less expense! Education Spaces also take care of the extensive legislative requirements that can be offputting for schools that aren't sure how to deal with planning, security, fire, sanitation, disabled access and even energy.

If you've found that you don't have the option of waiting until the next school year, then with careful planning in the early stages, the building phase can be timed to coincide with term breaks to minimise - or in some cases completely avoid - the disruption to pupils. Regardless of what time of year the building phase is completed, the rooms are instantly ready for use thanks to the properties of the Structured Insulated Panels (SIPs) used in the build. Whether it's keeping warm in winter or chilled in summer, Education Spaces rooms are a valuable addition to schools.

Education Spaces buildings not only come 'fully connected' in terms of power and plumbing, but they're also completely decorated with any number of finishes, including the ability to have an environmentally friendly living sedum roof!

Regardless of why a school needs extra space, the most important thing is that they get exactly what they require. A bespoke designed building that fits perfectly into the space available, whether large or small, where the aim is to complete as much as possible outside of term time and every level of support with the legal requirements is enough for many educators to not only question the conventional wisdom of 'extending' but to reject it entirely!
