Requirement
The Star Academy aims provide an engaging curriculum and holistic learning experience for each of its star pupils. This 21st Century Academy is committed to providing an environment where learning is an art, with their facilities extending to serve the wider local community. To that end they approached Education Spaces in a quest to design and install a fabulous state of the art multi-functional new building. The building was to provide the space for a ‘breakout room’ and an office, for parents and children to meet teachers. The innovative design was to include a moveable partition wall, giving the capacity to adapt the main area into two smaller spaces as needs dictated.
Our Solution
Multi-functional bespoke design: This unique and striking build was designed in collaboration with the Academy staff, who had high aspirations for their new facility. Masses of light and a sense of spaciousness was achieved, as well as the capacity to adapt the space.
Walk-in Storage: As well as an office, this building includes a sizeable storage cupboard, an essential requirement for any classroom.
Glazing: All frames are powder coated aluminium, RAL colour 7016, with Argon filled double glazing throughout.
Internal Partition: Bi-folding doors, when expertly fitted, create the perfect moveable internal partition wall; highly sound proof, impact safe yet incredible simple and light weight to open. A single panel can be used as an access door between the two areas or all sections pushed back to create one large working area.
Integral Blinds: Integral blinds within the bi-folds allow the flexibility to achieve complete privacy between the two areas or complete visibility, depending on requirement.
External Finish: This striking building is finished with a combination of western red cedar cladding and white polymeric render. Both are maintenance free. The rear façade is cement particle board painted with a weatherproof finish.
Flooring: Oak effect laminate flooring is fitted throughout. This 10mm v groove laminate comes with a 25 year manufactures warranty.
Climate Control: A Fujitsu condenser unit was installed by climate control experts, enabling highly energy efficient fine control of both humidity and temperature.
Lighting and power: Our experienced electrician installed 11 external LED down-lights, 9 strip lights and 7 double power sockets throughout the building, Part P certified. He also installed a wall mounted convector heater in the staff office.
