Education Spaces installed a bespoke standalone computer room into Leckhampton School back in 2014. They were extremely happy with this classroom, so much so that they approached Education Spaces again, to design and install another building, this time for use as additional classroom space. As part of the service we offer with every project, we designed the building with the decision makers from the school and submitted the necessary Planning and Building applications. There proved to be few planning issues with this build and work quickly commenced. As with every Education Spaces building, the design and the materials used combine to ensure full compliance with all aspects of legislation, delivering an exceptionally durable, energy efficient, safe and inviting environment.

Our Solution

• Covered walk way: Being a standalone classroom, this give the children a sheltered in which to wait and when filing into class. Stepped up one side with disabled ramp access up the other.

• Glazing: Stunning floor to ceiling glazing (2.2m) flanks two sides of this classroom, with top opening rapid vents and trickle vents. All Education Spaces glazing is high performance u = 0.1 W/m2k, to assist in the overall energy efficiency of the building, as required by Building Regulations.

• Doors: 2.2m high French Doors with disabled threshold for easy wheelchair access.

• Lighting: We installed highly efficient LED lux lighting panels that performs at under 5 W/m2.

• Integral toilet: Fully accessible toilet with complete disable package, including outward opening 1000mm door, extractor fan, grab rails and emergency pulley.

• Health and Safety: Toughened glazing throughout, hidden cabling, non-slip internal and external flooring, fire retardant materials and fire alarms are some of the many features incorporated.

• Kitchenette / wet area: Fully integrated kitchen area for facilitate wet play and the preparing of children's snacks. .

• Flooring: An inviting colourful area of hard wearing carpet tiles, great for sitting on, surrounded by specialist cap coving flooring that is durable, non-slip, waterproof and easy to clean.

• Store Room: The design incorporated a handy store room, which houses the consumer unit and provides useful space for stationary and equipment, behind a lockable door.

• Style within budget: The glazing that characterises this bespoke design is in affordable yet stylish anthracite grey uPVC frames.
