We all know children can be accident prone and are susceptible to bugs and viruses so can need medical care during a school day. It is also routine for health care workers to come into schools to administer inoculations or conduct hearing and eye sight tests. This large school recognised the need for a standalone medical facility within the school grounds from where first aid could be administered, poorly children cared for or routine medical tests conducted. This building did not have to be large nor high of specification but a comfortable, functional, private room with enough space for a desk, a bed and secure safe storage of medical supplies. The school had an area (called Library Square) nestled in amongst other buildings that provided the perfect location for this important building.

Our Solution

Thermowood Cladding: Our standard specification kiln dried FSC thermowood cladding was chosen. It is fixed with secret stainless steel pins, is exceptionally durable and maintenance free.
High Performance Glazing: The school wanted the room to feel light and airy with plenty of windows to capture what natural light was available from the buildings location. The windows were positioned at a specific height as to allow a bed, desk and cupboards to sit below. Blinds retrospectively fitted afforded privacy when needed. The contemporary looking anthracite grey frames are uPVC, so affordable and maintenance free.
Utilities: Two powerful contemporary strip lights were installed as the location gets limited natural light plus three double power sockets and a wall mounted convector heater.
Flooring: Our high quality 10mm v-groove laminate flooring, which comes as standard on all our buildings was the perfect floor covering for this room. It is robust, durable and easy to clean and disinfect.
